Bootfitting is the work of adapting the fit of a ski boot to the person using it. At Riosport we have foot-analysis tools and several fitting techniques. The appropriate intervention depends on each case: having a range of techniques does not mean applying all of them to every boot.
Your foot, boot and skiing
A discussion about fit should consider your equipment and how it feels. Explain whether you are choosing your first boots, replacing a pair or looking to review a particular aspect of fit. Foot analysis provides information to interpret alongside trying the boot and a professional assessment.
Feetbox EVO Analysis by SIDAS
This season we have introduced Feetbox EVO Analysis by SIDAS for foot analysis. It is one of the tools used in our bootfitting work. It complements the team’s technical knowledge rather than providing an automatic guarantee of fit or results.
Custom footbeds
At Riosport we make custom footbeds. This is one of the fitting options we consider as part of the foot-and-boot combination. Different fit needs can call for different approaches, so the appropriate intervention should be assessed before proceeding.
Shell work and other adjustments
We also carry out shell deformation, stretching and targeted modifications. These are distinct techniques for working on particular areas where appropriate. Our work also includes biomechanics and canting adjustments, which require a specific assessment.
The choice of techniques and scope for modification depend on the boot and the individual case. A list of services should therefore not be read as an identical treatment for every skier.
Preparing for your bootfitting consultation
Before your appointment, note what you would like to improve and the equipment you have been skiing in. If you already have boots, mention this when requesting an appointment so we can advise you on what to bring. Explain when you notice the issue and avoid attempting shell modifications yourself.
Arrange your bootfitting appointment at Riosport so we can discuss fitting options with you. Visit our Bootfitting page for more information.
